Wrap up of the Lights by Linea Hero Challenge

With the Lights by Linea Hero Challenge now complete the team can look back and evaluate the performance in the series. In the entire series the team managed two riders in the top ten in category 2 open division. In the last two races of the series the team had a good turn out and had 5 riders in both of the events. At the last event at Polkadraai Bernard managed another podium spot in the open category and the other boys came in just off the back of the main bunch.

Savage on the front dishing out some pain

The last event in the series took place on a tight city circuit in the Foreshore, Cape Town. The number of particpants and supporters swelled with the event being hosted in the city which created an amazing atmosphere around the circuit. The circuit was mostly sheltered from the wind except for the last part of the main stretch under the civic centre where the wind howls and knocks over unsuspecting riders at the start of the Cape Argus.

Brendon managed to get into a 4 man break and with 3 laps to go had an incident and the saddle slipped into BMX mode and he had to pull over to correct his saddle. Team Pure Savage’s best finisher on the day was Elebert hammering home in group of 5 riders.

The team are really happy with the performance in the series with all riders improving throughout the series and some great results by the riders getting onto the podium. Our goal was to get as many of our riders finishing the CAT 2 events and the team has managed to achieve this with 7 of the 12 riders managing to make a Lights by Linea Hero Challenge criteriums.

We would like the thank our Sponsors Mitchum South Africa and Good Hope Oncology for enabling us to take part in these events. The riders were all really impressed by the amazing quality of the events that Lights by Linea have once again pulled off. Thank you to Cycle Teknix for the images of the event. We were also very pleased to see the the Pedal Power Association did advertise the criterium in one of the news letters, this is a great start and a good sign for things to come in the future we hope.

Next year the team hopes to enter a team into the Category one race at the Lights by Linea Hero Challenge, hopefully with the skills learnt racing in the second category the boys should do well in the elite bunch.
